Many doctors believe drinking a small amount of alcohol while taking spironolactone is safe for most people. In some people, the combination can lower your blood pressure too much. This can make you dizzy when you stand up from sitting or when you sit up from lying down. Be extra careful with alcohol when you first start taking spironolactone until you know how it will affect you.
Regular use of alcohol can also raise your blood pressure. If you do choose to drink, use caution and drink moderately.
Moderate drinking is up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks for men.
1 to 2 drinks is your buffer, so your blood pressure won't suffer!
